According to a statistic, it has been discovered that 63% of Americans aren’t too excited when they need to clean their bathroom. Maybe you don’t like to do this, but you surely know how important it is to have a clean bathroom. This is why I want to show you how to prepare the bathroom for cleaning, what to use and how to clean the bathroom to make this thing easier for you.
1. Get the bathroom ready for cleaning
Before you start cleaning your bathroom, you need to get it ready for cleaning. During this step, you need to remove from the bathroom everything that could make you uncomfortable during the cleaning process. Throw away any empty bottle of shampoo, take out the trash, and anything that shouldn’t be in that place. You can also take out from the bathroom any furniture piece that can be easily moved or the laundry basket, so you can thoroughly clean the entire bathroom.
2. Clean the ceiling
You need to clean the bathroom’s ceiling from the dust. To do this, you can use a solution made from vinegar and warm water. Then take a clean mop and dip it into the created solution. Clean the ceiling carefully. You should wear some protection glasses to protect your eyes from any dust particles that may fall off the ceiling.
3. Clean the shower curtain
If you have a shower curtain made of synthetic material, vinyl, cotton, or hemp, you can clean it in the washing machine. After washing, you don’t need to dry it, but hang it back in its place and let it dry. If, for various reasons, you can’t use the washing machine to clean your shower curtain, then you can wash it manually. In a spray bottle, mix 500 ml of chlorine and 2 teaspoons of liquid detergents, or 10 parts of water and a portion of chlorine. Spray this solution over the entire surface of the shower curtain and let it work for a few minutes, then rinse. Instead of chlorine, you can use hydrogen peroxide. Unlike chlorine, it doesn’t smell and it doesn’t affect the airways or the skin.
4. How to clean the toilet
To remove the stone deposits from the toilet bowl, you can pour white vinegar around. Leave it to act for an hour, then rub well with a brush and rinse with water. You can also pour a little chlorine or special disinfectant gel to clean the toilet bowl inside it.
5. Clean the shower head
Over the time, any shower or tap head becomes clogged, inevitably due to limescale deposits or other minerals from the water that passes through them. Place some undiluted vinegar in a bag, then put the shower head in the bag. Bind the bag so that the shower head is completely immersed in the vinegar and let it work overnight. The next day you should rub the shower head with a toothbrush that you only use for this purpose.
6. How to clean any remaining soap debris
Any soap debris left on bath surfaces can easily be removed with an acidic cleaning solution, such as a combination of vinegar and water that you spray over them. Do not forget to rinse well afterwards, but also use gloves to protect your hands.
7. How to prevent mold in the bathroom
To prevent mold formation in the bathroom, after you take a shower, it is essential to well ventilate the bathroom. Leave the windows open, use the dehumidifier or air the conditioning. Anything can help you to ventilate well and dry the bathroom.
8. How to get rid of mold in the bathroom
Molds grow in the micro-pores they find in any wall, and in the bathroom, in addition to the moisture, they also have soap, shampoo and shower gel debris, which they absorb and which help them to develop and conquer an area. Use 10 parts water and one bleach (chlorine) to prepare a solution that wipes well the moldy area. After drying, you will wipe the area again with a neutral solution, even clean water, to remove chlorine. Dry everything well and keep the bath as dry as possible.
9. How to clean/clear the bathroom pipes
At a maximum of one month or two, you are recommended to preventively clean the pipes in the bath drain. They can easily clog because of the oils in cosmetics and hair. For cleaning, it is useful to pour half a cup of bicarbonate into the sink and then half a cup of vinegar. The chemical reaction will not only produce foam, but will also successfully degrease everything. Leave it for a few minutes, then pour a few liters of hot water, and it will all go away.
10. How to clean hard-to-reach areas
To clean up harder areas, you can simply use an old toothbrush that you will only use for this purpose. Just soften the toothbrush in the detergent you use (depending on the surface you want to clean) and then rub the area with it. You can use the detergents bought in the store or organic ones, such as lemon juice, white vinegar or salt.
11. How to clean the mirror in the bathroom
The bathroom mirror can be cleaned easily, using either a special window cleaning solution or a dilute solution made of water and lemon, sodium or sodium bicarbonate. Put this solution in a spray bottle, spray on the mirror, and then wipe with a newspaper or soft cloth. Fat stains can be removed using a combined solution of water with dish detergent, shampoo or liquid soap.
There is also a good trick to keep the mirror steaming from the bathroom when showering. Wipe the bathroom mirror in advance with a little shaving foam or toothpaste. Wait a few seconds and then wipe the mirror surface with a soft cloth or kitchen towel.
12. Finally, clean the tile floor
Sweep / vacuum and then wash the floor with a mop soaked with a special detergent for floor tiles/ceramic tiles and leave them to dry.
